Associated School Librarians of Fairfax County

About ASLFC

Our organization has earned an excellent reputation as the representative of the dedicated, intelligent librarians and library supporters of Fairfax County Public Schools.  Our members provide leadership and support to each other and to our individual school communities.

A.S.L.F.C. provides several opportunities throughout the year for advocacy for our library programs as well as fellowship among our peers.  Each fall, we welcome our new librarians with a luncheon and information session; host a reception for School Board members and the FCPS leadership team; and hold a Principals and Librarians dinner.  We host a Nibbles and a Book networking event during the winter, as well as a Spring Tea/Retirement celebration near the end of the school year.  We keep our members informed about conferences and opportunities for professional development, as well as issues that affect their library programs.  We award scholarships for professional growth.  Awardees share their experiences through articles on this web site so that everyone can benefit.

A.S.L.F.C. provides a forum for librarians at all levels to work together and support each other.  Join us and work with us to make FCPS library programs as strong as they can be and to help fellow FCPS librarians use those strong programs to help our students and staff members in their quest for educational excellence
